Wandering Around | Hong Kong

Preface#

One of the purposes of this trip is to open an account. I won't go into details about the account opening process, as detailed tutorials can be found on Google or Xiaohongshu. I went to the Tianshuiwei branch, no appointment is necessary for Bank of China and HSBC, although I made an appointment with Bank of China in advance, and the experience was good. The account opening process at HSBC will be faster.

There was a small problem with opening an account at Zhongan. Although it only requires online operation, the subsequent steps will verify the location. Tianshuiwei is too remote and not within the designated area, so I completed it when I was closer to the city center.

DAY ONE#

After opening an account at Bank of China and HSBC, I started wandering aimlessly. Of course, before coming, I read many posts on Xiaohongshu. Most of the common problems are covered there, which is very practical.

I spent a day in the Yau Tsim Mong area. When eating, I tried to speak some Cantonese I learned from Duolingo, but the person said they couldn't understand what I was saying 😅, so I haven't spoken since.

DAY TWO#

I took the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator for a while. The sign at the end of the escalator indicated that it would take about 25 minutes to walk to the Mid-Levels. After hesitating for a while, I decided to walk up. When I reached the place to take the cable car up the mountain, I couldn't walk anymore, but going down by cable car only took a short while. Since the hotel was far away, I had a simple meal and continued to aimlessly walk after going down the mountain. I originally planned to watch a mainland movie that hadn't been released yet - "The Heron and the Boy," but after walking over 20,000 steps that day, I chose to lie down early.

Conclusion#

Apart from the crowded streets in the city center and the significantly higher prices compared to the mainland, everything else in Hong Kong was great. I could access the internet normally, and the people I met were very polite.

I still hope to explore more in the limited time, shuttle on the intersecting roads, and never stop, like commuting to a different place. I can't do it like this next time.

Also, I didn't take out my camera much in crowded places to record anything, despite trying to change this aspect of my personality to be more casual and open, but the results were minimal.
