DAY ONE#
This is my second time in Hong Kong. I chose to stay in a youth hostel. Not long after checking in, the person in the bed next to me returned from outside. I tried to initiate a conversation and learned that he was from the United States. He had been learning Chinese since childhood and had exchanged in China for a few years, so his Chinese was very good. We chatted for a while, mixing Chinese and English.
After that, we went out to explore together. During a meal, we talked about Spotify, which led to discussing our favorite music. I mentioned that I had been listening to jazz lately, but I realized that I couldn't remember the names of a few songs and couldn't name many artists. I knew very little about the history of jazz, feeling somewhat embarrassed as if I had been called on to answer a question in class after dozing off.
DAY TWO#
On the second day, I went to Victoria Peak again. Last time, I walked up alone, but this time I took the cable car with the friend I mentioned earlier. Perhaps due to cultural differences, personality, language, etc., we talked much less the next day.
After lunch, he had to go to the airport, and I spent the remaining time wandering around alone.
DAY THREE#
I had breakfast near the youth hostel. Since the place only accepted cash, and I happened to have no cash on me and didn't bring my bank card, I left a document as collateral, thinking I would check nearby convenience stores to see if I could exchange some money with my Octopus card. I tried a few places, but none supported it. After wandering around, I had to return to the hostel to get my card and withdraw some cash, but the owner didn't show any anger or impatience despite my long wait.
Coming to Hong Kong again, I felt that everyone had their own things to do and was always in a hurry. I was just one of many tourists.
